A pair of metallic leather Prada peep-toe d'Orsay pumps, circa 1999, catch my eye as I enter the Deuxième Second-Hand Boutique. Everything about the space begs me to ingest a little eye candy: the hardwood floors, the hands-off proprietor, the lighting... Racks of clothes carefully organized first by item type, then color, then size. The result is a tranquil boutique with a rainbow of crisp white blouses, funky leather jackets, cashmere cardigans, and designer jeans.Nothing about the shop screams second-hand, except for the deep discounts on designer duds. Two small rooms form this shopping space with shoes, jeans, and discounted items in the front room and handbags, dresses, outerwear, tops, and trousers in the main room. Every item appears handpicked for its style, quality, label, and condition. Most of the merchandise seems to have been worn only a few times. Labels range from Kookai to Gucci with prices between CHF 20 for a top to CHF 350 for a Moschino Cheap and Chic pin stripe suit.
It's refreshing to walk into a second-hand boutique and not feel overwhelmed by floor to ceiling merchandise taking up every square inch of the shop. It's also nice to know that when I feel like treating myself to something special with designer quality, there's no need to pay retail.

Now this looks like a shop that I could get lost in! I remember Swiss shopping to be supremely civilized and qiet, unlike the merchandise that screams and overwhelms you in the states.
