Homemade Quarkini

We did it! We recreated one of our favorite treats from our time in Switzerland. It's not often you see quark in the stores here. In fact, I had never heard of it until we lived in Europe. Now, we've spotted it at Whole Foods and the farmers' market. Once I spotted it, I knew we had to try and make our own quarkini. Isaiah found a recipe online and used Google translate to translate it from German to English. The result? These slightly ill-shaped yet totally delicious spongy dough balls.

Please excuse the messy kitchen

  3. Krystal and Carla - get yourselves to a bakery ASAP... which won't be for a few more months. I don't think they have quarkini in the bakeries there until the start of the Fasnacht season. November, maybe? Glad I could introduce you two to something new! :)

  9. Thank you so much for sharing this! I lived in Switzerland for 18 months, and whenever my local bakery in Oberwinterthur had quarkini, I'd buy as many as I could afford (they were usually 1.50F). I had usually inhaled at least one before I made it home from the bakery. Sooooo good!
